Q: How do I get syllabuses for the subject?
Ans.:
Syllabuses for CSEC, CAPE and GCE are available from this
office.
The current cost is $200.00 each. If it is a mail order, cost for
mailing should be included.

Q: Where is the Overseas Examinations Office located?
Ans.:
Our address is 2A Piccadilly Road but visitors should use the new gate on Manhattan Road which is in front of the entrance to the NWC on Marescaux Road.

Q: If I register as a private candidate, where will I sit the
examination?
Ans.:
We try to place candidates at a centre nearest to where they
reside or to the nearest available location.

Q: How will I know where to go?
Ans.:
Approximately six weeks before the first examination, you will
get your Timetable in the mail. You will also receive an instruction
sheet which will give you your centre location.

Q: If I have lost my certificate, how do I get another one?
Ans.:
Examining Bodies do not as a rule, provide another certificate. GCE provides a Certifying Statement. The current cost is £22.00 Application for same should be made through the Overseas Examinations Office.
The Overseas Examinations Office will forward a Certifying
Statement of your results to an education institution or to a place of
employment on your behalf. You would have to complete a transcript
request form. There is a minimum cost for this service.

Q: How can I be a Supervisor or Invigilator for examinations?
Ans.:
If you are over eighteen (18) years, honest and reliable and
have completed Secondary Education and not registered for CXC or GCE in the current sitting, you may apply to the Overseas Examinations Office for the position of an invigilator.
A Supervisor must be mature (over 25) and completed Secondary/ Post Secondary education. Age limit - 75 years. Must have at least two character references.

Q: If I am preparing candidates for CXC/GCE examinations, how do I
register as a centre?
Ans.:
Your institution must first be approved and registered by the Ministry of Education. Once you have a Ministry of Education
registration number, then you apply to the Overseas Examinations
Office for centre registration. An officer from the Overseas
Examinations Office will visit to ensure that the necessary security
arrangements and accommodation are in place. If you meet the required
standard you will be awarded a CXC/GCE centre number.

Q: If I do a correspondence course, can you provide a Proctor for
examinations?
Ans.:
The core job of this office is to administer examinations, so
yes, we will provide a Proctor. You should however submit the Proctor form to the Director of this office for signing before it is forwarded to the Examining Body. |
Q: Which examination is easier, CXC or GCE?
Ans.:
None is easier. They are both challenging and with diligent
study and correct use of Syllabuses and support materials you should be
guaranteed success.

Q: If I have none of the required identification for examination, what
should I do?
Ans.:
You may not be allowed to sit an examination if you are not
properly identified. The Overseas Examinations Office will provide an
examination identification card for you on request. A fee is charged
for the service.
